Installing Tiltbuster Custom Mods.

Once you have downloaded your Tiltbuster Mod file you are ready to apply/install the mod to your poker client (i.e. PokerStars, Full Tilt, etc.).

There are currently 5 sections to the Installation Instructions.

Installing PokerStars Table Themes

• Before installing your custom mod, it is important that you know where your PokerStars client is installed at on your computer. You will be asked for this location (Destination Folder) during the install process.
  • To determine the location of the folder that holds your poker client software, locate the shortcut that you use to open your PokerStars software.
  • Find your PokerStars shortcut and "right mouse click" on the icon.
  • Select "Properties" - Once in "Properties", select the "Shortcut" tab.
  • The Destination Folder is the location indicated in the "Start in" box.
    • note: the location will not always be C:\Program Files\PokerStars - yours may be entirely different!

• Make sure that your PokerStars Software is not running (close PokerStars)
• Find the Tiltbuster mod file that you downloaded during the " downloaded your Tiltbuster Mod file "process
• click (or double click) this file to begin the installation process, taking time to read the information screens as they may contain additional information specific to your particular mod.
• Once installation is complete, you may restart your poker client. *note that some of the Tiltbuster installers have the option to automatically launch the software after closing the installer
• For PokerStars Mods, you will need to access the Themes Selection List. This can be done a number of ways.
  • For our purposes, we'll open a PokerStars Table and click on the "Chip Tray" or "Options" area at the top of the table.
  • Select "Choose Theme" - The standard PokerStars supplied themes will at the top of the list. Custom Themes will appear at the bottom of the list (you may need to scroll down the list).
  • 

   

• When you highlight the custom theme, you should see it in the "Preview Window" of the Table Themes menu. - Click "Apply"
  • You will then be given the option to apply the theme to the current table, all tables, or all tables of a certain type.
  • If you do not see the "Custom Theme" in the preview window, this may be an indication that you forgot to Close PokerStars prior to installing the theme - or -
  • you may not have the required base theme installed.  In this case, if you click "Apply" you would receive a message like "This theme requires 'Stars Theme' to be installed."
    • If you receive this message, simply scroll up the themes list and install whichever PokerStars mod the message refers to, then scroll scroll back down and install your custom theme.

Installing and using PokerStars Card and Chip Mods

Card and Chip mods are not officially supported by PokerStars and will be overwritten by PokerStars' Update each time you launch PokerStars using your normal shortcut. Options on how to manage this are discussed at the end of this section.

Launching PokerStars without losing Card and Chip Mods to the PokerStars Update.

Card and Chip mods are not officially supported by PokerStars and will be overwritten by PokerStars' Update each time you launch PokerStars using your normal shortcut.

• There are several ways to manage Card and Chip Mods and the PokerStars Update. First, a little information for you.

  Since PokerStars does not officially support Card and Chip mods, when you open PokerStars using your normal shortcut - PokerStars recognizes the image files as not being original and forces an update that overwrites the files with the original images. Some of the methods described below use a technique that bypasses the PokerStars Update. I recommend that you open PokerStars, using your normal PokerStars shortcut, every other day or so. This way you are sure to have the benefit of any critical software updates and access to the latest features offered by PokerStars.  It only takes a few seconds to reinstall your card and chip mods - just keep the downloaded mod files in a handy location.

  Some methods of dealing with this include, but may not be limited to...

  • Open PokerStars, accept the update, re-install the card and/or chip mods prior to opening a table
    • If you have already opened a table, you can run the mod installer then simply switch back and forth between another theme to clear PokerStars memory cache of the card and chip images
  • Many of the card and chip mods have a "Launch PokerStars on close" option at the end of the installer.  This feature points to the PokerStars.exe file that does not call for an update inspection. You can use the installer to launch PokerStars instead of the PokerStars shortcut and your card and chip mods will not be overwritten.
  • Create a "Stars Modded" shortcut on your desktop - a shortcut that points to the file "PokerStars.exe" not "PokerStarsUpdate.exe"
    • To do this,  "right mouse click" on your PokerStars shortcut icon - select "Copy" - find a blank space on your computer "Desktop" - "right mouse click" and select "Paste"
    • Now you can "right mouse click" on your newly created PokerStars shortcut and select "Rename".  Rename the shortcut to "Stars Modded" or whatever name you prefer.
    • Now you can "right mouse click" on your newly created PokerStars shortcut and select "Properties" - Once in "Properties", select the "Shortcut" tab.
    • In the box that says "Target", edit the shortcut from "PokerStarsUpdate.exe" to "PokerStars.exe"
    • You may also choose to "Change Icon" if you wish
      • Note: some of the newer Tiltbuster Installers offer an option to create this Desktop Shortcut for you.
  • 
  • Lastly, there is a utility in the Tiltbuster Mod Shop that called StarsQuickSwap
    • Instructions on using StarsQuickSwap are on the item's description page in the Mod Shop

Installing and using AHK ModManagers for PokerStars

Installing and using Full Tilt Poker Mods

• Before installing your custom mod, it is important that you know where your Full Tilt Poker client is installed at on your computer. You will be asked for this location (Destination Folder) during the install process.
  • To determine the location of the folder that holds your poker client software, locate the shortcut that you use to open your Full Tilt Poker software.
  • Find your Full Tilt Poker shortcut and "right mouse click" on the icon.
  • Select "Properties" - Once in "Properties", select the "Shortcut" tab.
  • The Destination Folder is the location indicated in the "Start in" box.
    • note: the location will not always be C:\Program Files\Full Tilt Poker - yours may be entirely different!

• Make sure that your Full Tilt Poker software is not running (close Full Tilt Poker)
• Find the Tiltbuster mod file that you downloaded during the " downloaded your Tiltbuster Mod file "process
• click (or double click) this file to begin the installation process, taking time to read the information screens as they may contain additional information specific to your particular mod.
• Once installation is complete, you may restart your poker client. *note that some of the Tiltbuster installers have the option to automatically launch the software after closing the installer
• If your Full Tilt Mod was a "Table Mod", make sure your "Options" are set to the correct table view - "Classic" or "RaceTrack"
  • To select the different backgrounds that came with your mod "right mouse click" on your Full Tilt table.  This will bring up a pop-up box with all of the available backgrounds for your mod.
  • Note: you may see an all White background when you first open your Full Tilt Table.  This may be a result of Full Tilt looking for a table background that is no longer used. Selecting a different background as described in the previous step should resolve issue.
